Thanks to Richtazz
I posted a couple of weeks ago regarding a heater blower speed problem on my '99 GP GT. Rich directed me to the blower motor resistor.
I bought the part and installed it on Sunday. Although getting under the dash was a real chore for me (since I've gotten older I've found that I'm no longer very flexible!), but I got the old one out and new part installed. It works great. Thanks again to Rich and all of the other fine folks on the forum that help out with problems every day. Steve |

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
When I did my blower motor resistor I pulled out the front seat. It made it so much easier.

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
I'm 42 years old and did mine a while back. It took me several hours to be able to straighten out again. Other than that it's an easy fix...

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
I should removed the seat. It probably would have made a big difference! Next time...

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
I did mine about 3 years ago, the blower motor it's self the year after, I never did get all the screws back in the resistor though, If I remember right one was to tight to get it back in, did you get them all?

![]() Then you get an attaboy Paul. If anyone thinks the BMR or blower motor is bad try doing a heater core. It took me a week to recover from that job and at my age it wasn't fun. ![]()

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
Now imagine being 58. I sometimes wonder how much longer I'll enjoy this.

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
Hopefully you will not have to replace the motor resistor again. I replaced mine about 2 1/2 years ago, no problems since. But I did have to replace the resistor connector. It was melted, and I had to replace the orange and the black wires. The wire insulation on both wires melted and the copper wire turned dark black. On the orange I put a heavier gage wire.

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
Haha, I don't even want to think about swapping out a heater core. I believe my BMR was shorted out because my Cowl rain deflector dropped allowing rain/moisture to enter. I also installed a cabin air filter. My second design 97 GT didn't come with one from the factory, however, the cowl is designed for one.

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
Actually, the one on the right in back was missing. I can only assume that someone else had the pleasure before me. And I didn't try to find a replacement screw - just put 'er back in with the 2 that I had.

Re: Thanks to Richtazz
X2, Thanks to Rich and Bob, I think I owe each of them at least a 6 pack if they are ever in my area.
