2002 Avalanche

I have a 2002 Avalanche that periodically likes to shut down, (stop running). I doesn't matter if I am at idle at a stop light, releasing the gas for an exit ramp, or on criuse on the highway. The motor just shuts off. I must pull over to the side, put it in park and attempt to restart. Sometimes it firres right back up, other times it will not start for several minutes. When it won't start it sound like it is not firing at all. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a cure? I was told that it could be a crank sensor?

Re: 2002 Avalanche

Best place to start is get the codes read. Trying to simply guess and replace parts is just throwing money away IMO. From what I have read, there are some part stores in the U.S. that will scan the codes for free for you. They are not that willing here in Canada though.
