Mclaren F1 for sale in the UK - anyone know about this one ?

Hi there,

Got a copy of the August newsletter e-mailed to me by Specialist Cars in Malton, North Yorkshire tonight.

I was reading about all of the Porsches they have for sale and have sold when this popped up in the text: -

"Specialist Cars Brokerage We are pleased to announce the launch of a new service for the Prestige Car market, Specialist Cars Brokerage. We can source you any vehicle, currently available we have, amongst many others, Ferrari California, Nissan GTR, Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, AMG Black Edition and of course ANY Porsche. Ok F1 experts, which car are they referring to ??

Any thoughts ?

No mention of it on there website: -

Regards

Tim

No guesses here.

With a statement like this one, it could be any car, anywhere:

Through our extensive worldwide network of contacts we have access to an amazing array of the best cars in the world.

It could be a marketing exercise to see if any one is interested and they may have a contact in another garage / seller who has one who may wish to sell. It's bought more traffic to their website anyway

Maybe off topic here but there used to be an F1 in the Aberdeen area of Scotland that seems to have dissapeared though I have no details of its chassis No etc.

That was 07R, belonged to a venture capitalist whose name I don't recall off the top of my head. I believe it was sold by Oakfield's.

It was an orange GTR (spoiler, skirts, loud). Is that what you saw?

It was certainly orange because at first glance I thught it may have been an LM but that seemed most unlikely.

Think the owner's name was Larry Kynch. Also owns a castle in Scotland. Don't know about the storing/selling part. It was certainly offered for sale by them. I guess it didn't sell and is still there?

Am sure there was also a road going F1 in Aberdeen owned by one of the bigwigs in BP or Shell

Well, he was in the oil business, so it was probably him. Maybe he had two cars? Maybe the rumors got mixed up and there was only this car? Or maybe there was another owner--Chris Dawes owned one and I believe he was up in that area sometimes. But I don't know if he took his McLaren there.
