Re: 1999 Cherokee Left Turn Stall (Full Tank) HELP!!

I just replaced the battery terminal ends. Didn't seem to solve the problem but haven't seen the speedometer jump yet. If it was broken cat parts why can i still floor it through a right turn without problem. If I accelerate hard from a stop going straight I have a problem as well. the only time it doesn't happen is when turning right. I will be dropping the fuel tank in the next couple of days to look at the fuel pump assembly. If the pump is in good shape and the pressure to the rail is good what should I be looking for. Any other suggestions? What should I look for when checking the O2 sensors and is there a temporary solution for the rattling cat? Thanks for the help.

Re: 1999 Cherokee Left Turn Stall (Full Tank) HELP!!

Ok, today I found a hose that was connected to the front drive axle. It had a hole in it that looked as if it was being caused by the drive shaft rubbing on it when in 4wd. the problem seemed to happen after a trip up in the mountains in 4wd. So I repaired the hole in the hose. It seems that the hose goes from the drive axle to the engine compartment but does not connect to anything but a plastic valve of some sort, like a vent or something. I have noticed that when I accelerate hard from a stop the problem has gone but is still happening on hard left turns. Additionally I have noticed that as the fuel tank gets empty the problem does not appear as much. Not sure if this is significant but please if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks again.

ok heres what I think happened. you went 4 wheeling in woods cat got hit . ceramics inside broke when on hill nose up or making left exhasted restricts if you did put nose up (as you say) it dies when nose up .and as i suggested you should check fuel pressure then and spark then , you would have both ,and if you had both logic would suggest restrict in exhaust, since you state if you level veh it starts.I may be a newb to this forum but have a degree in electronics and own a repair shop over 35 years. i have never owned a new car because i can fix what others cant. you never said you tried checking when nose up. i see that as god sent, a position in which the veh will tell me what's wrong. use logic and i am sure you will fix your problem again good luck!!

I will definitely check that out but I do have a question. If I am in my driveway, nose up, the vehicle starts fine. I can rev in park no problem. While in driveway, nose up, upon shifting into gear at the release of the brake petal the jeep begins to sputter and then dies. Then I cannot start it until the jeep is level. Not sure if this is significant or changes your diagnosis, but I will test what you said today and let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for your help.

Re: 1999 Cherokee Left Turn Stall (Full Tank) HELP!!

i am not there so all i can say is i dont know! but in my profession i do things by the numbers and use as much logic as i can. and the way i see it is if you can reproduce you sym you are ahead of the game, with the veh unable to start gives you the ablity to do tracing you cant when on the road. So all I am saying is that what ever you turn up it will show itself better when it refuses to start. At least its a logic avenue to proceed with. who knows you may find no spark while nose in air maybe the twist on chassis on coil pack is problem but what ever it is it will be easier to find in that position. Good luck let me know how you do.
