85 DeVille rear doors won't open

I have removed the trim around the inner door handle. everything there seems to be working ok, that is, the rods to the lock and door latch move full stroke and sound OK - good solid click, I have pulled on the rod that goes to the door latch with pliers but it still does not open.

The latch in the lock ass'y is probably frozen, you must get you hands into the latch ass'y and try to do this manually. Or try to spray some rust penetrating fluid in there and let is sit overnight.

Re: 85 DeVille rear doors won't open

Let me start over.

The rear doors won't open. I assume the latch is frozen/rusted. I want to get to the latch from inside of the door to open it manually or at least to lube it but I can't get to the latch. The door is shut tight so I cannot lube it from the outside. The inner door handle is very small and very far forward so I cannot get to the latch through there.

Any Ideas?

Remove the trim pad best possible to reach into the door, no?
