racing urban legends

i thought this might be interesting. ive heard a few things while racing that some say help, and some say r stupid. if u no any more that will help during arace, or r just stupid (or ur not quite sure), post em up. here r two.

1. racing with the radio on is bad, because it doesnt let enough current go to the plugs, even on stock audio systems.

2. racing with the heater full blast will direct heat away frm the engine.

personally i think there stupid. i still turn my radio off, but just so i can focus

Re: racing urban legends

#1 is ridiculous.

#2 is conceivable, but wont make much, if any, difference.

Re: racing urban legends

Theoretically, if you drove with flip-flops on instead of full blow shoes your gross weight will be less therefore your car is faster. However, it is completely absurd to do so as it makes no difference.

lol when i'm racing i crank that shit. i think it helps with the adrenaline. more of a rush lol. another thing is i always roll the windows up so there's less drag. that seems pretty legit.

Re: racing urban legends

In the first case the magnetically induced drag on the alternator due to the additional load of the stock stereo system would probably be negligible. So there would not be a measurable difference. A high power system on the other hand may rob a little power that could be used to at the wheels, disregarding the extra weight of the system.
As for the heater at full blast, it would probably be counter productive. The load on the alternator would probably negate any benefit from extracting the heat.
