i have 90 dx crx with a zc sohc with dp-fi i bought it with a problem. it has a sezed cam and broke the timing belt 107 tooth (i'm gussing 1.6) i do not know how this happend but the bottom end still moves free and still has oil in the pan. should i junk it, and go to b16a? remiber dx with dp-fi or put on new head. can replace parts but far from computer genuse or honda tech also not the richest. sugtions will be taken sirus thanks.

Re: zc sohc

zc sohc is like a d16a6, stock si engine. except not MPFI.

i personally would not rebuild. the money spent to fix (if even fixable) could have been spent on a d16z6 or d16y8 sohc vtec. if you dont have a lot of money it's your best option as it bolts to your tranny, it's a cheap engine to find, and just needs conversion harness & ecu. b16 you need more expensive engine & tranny, mounts, axels, linkage, harness, and ecu.

you want more power and can afford it go b16. can't afford b16 but want a HP gain i would go sohc vtec....you'll gain like 40+ horses. you're current set-up is basically a dx

Re: zc sohc

you actually can run it off the si ecu but you won't have vtec.

you will need a p28 ecu and obd-o to obd-1 conversion harness as the sohc vtec is odb-1

Re: zc sohc

thanks agine. i think i have chosen the y8. i found the swap info on AF and found a 99 y8 at a local yard. now to find a si intack, computer, harness. the swap says only one sylniod wire to add, and $325 to have the si ecu re- poped. will the y8 work with the l3-2? thanks KTB
