99 blazer Hub assembly
99 chevy blazer 2dr 4x4
One of my hubs are bad. I have the load humming while driving. When I am going straight down the highway I can hear. If I veer to the right it is more prevelant. When I veer to the left the noise lessens. Does anyone have an idea which side? I am thinking the passenger side. Is there a way to diagnose. Thank you, Travis |

Re: 99 blazer Hub assembly
Left front. When you turn to the right you put more load on the left side of the vehicle. With that side jacked up you should be able to spin the wheel by hand and either hear it or feel it getting sloppy.

Re: 99 blazer Hub assembly
Best to jack it up and feel and listen to both side.
Play in bearing or noise when spinning wheel should point to it. But if one side is bad the other one will not be far behind it going bad. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: 99 blazer Hub assembly
I'm finally going to do the job. I went to Autozone to get the axle nut and they sold me a 36mm. It seems a little sloppy. Is it actually a 36mm or a 35mm?

Re: 99 blazer Hub assembly
Are you reffering to socket for axel the nut?
IF A 36 IS LOSE TRY A 35.

Re: 99 blazer Hub assembly
It was a 35mm. Autozone wouldn't take the 36mm back because I tried to use it, eventhough the salesperson is the on that told me it had to be a 36mm and not a 35.
Completed the job................. Actually pretty easy. Found a new hub assembly at a pull a part junk yard. The girl is back to the way that she yous to sound. |

Hi - I have to change a hub/bearing assy on my significant other's 99 Jimmy. Jacked it up, pulled a wheel, looks pretty straight forward. Let me know if I'm missing anything significant: Remove caliper, remove caliper mount & rotor, remove axle nut, remove 3 bolts on bearing and disconnect ABS wiring.
At this point will the bearing and hub come out, or do you need a puller to remove the hub assy? Just want to have my ducks in a row before I start destroying the old lady's truck... Thanks! |
