Tough search for First Car

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to buy my first car, but have been having a hard time because of the requirements i am looking for. First of all i am 19, still with permit because I really do not like driving. So the car I am looking for a car with specific requirements so at least i enjoy driving a bit more and honestly, make me a little less scared of the road.

Looking to buy used under $3,000 (three thousand)

Not sports car, meaning low insurance.

Small car as possible, maybe 2 door, but with enough space to fit several music instruments in the trunk, or backseat, whatever

Automatic.

I also don't want a generic looking car like a toyota corolla.

Age doesn't matter, but i mean, as long as it's safe.

I am not asking for you guys to give me phone numbers to call about your used car that you're selling, but i am asking for you guys to give me car models that fit these specifications. I have seen several cars but theres always one thing, like too expensive, or it's a sports car, or it's manual, that i keep having to search for more cars. So i hope in asking you guys can tell me a good car for me.

Thanks,
Scrythe

Re: Tough search for First Car

I like your down to earth question, by that I mean you're not a dreamer that also must have all the toys like leather and roof and other specifications.

The key factor will be to locate a vehicle in this price range that will outlast your investment, many consumers will buy an inexpensive vehicle only to find out mechanical issues made it a bad investment , and the simple reason for this to happen is the proper steps to buying a used vehicle was not studied, I cannot tell you what to buy, but I can tell you the steps to follow to lesson the chances having a lemon parked in your driveway.

In this price range, Miles - Year or type vehicle don't come into play, there is only one factor " CONDITION "

Here are 3 steps that will help you along.

1, Go to this link http://www.usedcartips.org/TENTHOU.html it will explain where to find inexpensive cars and the type dealers selling these units.

2, When you have located a vehicle that may fit your lifestyle, this link becomes very important http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html

3, When you have found a car that passed step 2, it will be worth the few bucks to have an independent inspection http://www.usedcartips.org/MECHANI.html

My expertise is only the buying process, I hope another member will provide you with a list of vehicles that may fit the bill... When you find that magic car that triggered your emotions, I will be interested if you care to post it in this thread, good luck.

PS... don't seal any deal till you know the insurance cost fit's your budget.
