My Jeep Cherokee '98 dies while running-dire need of assistance!

Ok, I've got this '98 Jeeps Cherokee that I can only drive a few good feet and then it just dies out. When I turn it on again it starts up, but it wont go farther than the first time, so I just leave it over night. In fact I don't even need to be driving it for it to turn off, it just slowly gives in over time. I've replaced many things such as the crankshaft position sensor, the oxygen sensor, the throttle position sensor, throttle body, the idle aim control, the distributor cap, the fuel filter, and finally even the PCM. I've plugged in a computer and no codes were given. So if anyone knows the solution PLEASE tell me as I have tried everything.

Ideas:

Plugs and plug wires.

Battery

Battery cables (positive can corrode and restrict the flow of juice)

Questions: Does it run rough at all before it dies? If the headlights are on, do they dim as the engine slows?

What plugs and plug wires are you exactly referring to? The car doesn't run rough before it dies but I have not tested the lights thing yet. The car battery itself is pretty new.

You said you replaced the distributor cap. From that cap, wires lead to the spark plugs. Also, under the cap is the rotor, which if the distributor cap needed replacement, your rotor is probably in bad shape also.

I've seen numerous vehicles with worn rotor, cap, spark plugs and bad wires. These things together can make a vehicle unstartable; but when replaced it can run like new.

Re: My Jeep Cherokee '98 dies while running-dire need of assistance!

Alright I've come to the conclusion that it is my fuel pump, and this is why. I did in fact change the ignition coil and the problem did persist, so I decided to check my fuel pressure when I start it up it goes up to 42 psi, then 30 or so,20, 10 then nothing. When I try and start it backup I get no pressure at all and of course the car doesn't start up. I guess I'm going to have to buy a new fuel pump. Oh yea I checked all the wires and the spark plugs with an ohmeter or however you spell that and they work just fine. And as for the distributor cap I, I didn't change it because it was bad for all I knew the cap is perfectly well I was just testing things. Any comments?

fuel pump very common, when the pressure drops low pound on the tank the pressure should fluctuate
