Barracuda Help

Hey guys i'm 17 and I was looking for a nice car with some good pickup. I wanted something American, god knows I hate imports and how they sound, and I was looking into the Barracuda. I was just wondering if anyone has some kind of idea of mabey where I could get one, besides going to a junkyard and finding a broken down one, and give me some basic specs about it. I know you might be saying, WOW 17... this car isn't for you but don't get me wrong I wanted a great car so that when I get older I have something to toy around with and gear up, not like i'm not gonna baby the thing now just I need to save up some money to work on it. Any help would be great!!! Also I know pretty much next to NOTHING about cars so if you get REALLY technical try to break it down for me slowly. Thanks!

So you want to find a Barracuda. The Plymouth Barracuda was produced from 1964 through 1974. It went through three generations (or body platforms) during this run.

The first generation Barracuda was from 1964 through 1966. This was the original, bubble-windowed, fastback version of the Valiant. This car was available as two-door hardtop only, with either the base 225 slant six or 273 V8 with either two or four barrel. Transmission choices were 3-speed stick, 4-speed stick or Torqueflite automatic. The high-performance model was called the "Formula S"

The second generation Barracuda was from 1967 through 1969. This generation came as either a fastback coupe, notchback coupe or convertible. This car shared the same body platform as the Valiant. You could get the 225 slant six, the 273 two-barrel V8, a 318 two-barrel V8 or the 340 four-barrel, high performance V8. Transmission choices were the same as before.

The third generation Barracuda was from 1970 through 1974. This generation shared the same platform with the Dodge Challenger. Body styles were either 2-door coupe (all years) or convertible (1970 & 1971 only). Basic engine choices were primarily the 225 slant six and 318 two-barrel V8. High performance engines included the 340 four-barrel in the early years, the 360 four-barrel in the later years, and for 1970 & 1971 only, the 383 two or four barrel, the 426 Hemi and 440 four-barrel or "six-pack" (three two-barrels). The high performance model was called the 'Cuda.

There are a lot of old Barracuda's out there, but mostly with the smaller engines. Most the high-performance versions have either been wrecked or swallowed up by collector's. But you never know what you might find hidden somewhere, if you look or just get lucky. Let us know what you find and always feel free to ask questions. if you are looking to buy a barracuda then check out moparts they have a section that you can sell of buy a car and they are all mopars. the barracuda is an a body car if you go there looking for one. I have a 69 barracuda with a 318 auto in it. they are cool looking cars kinda like a baby road runner

This is off the subject, but I've become desperate. My 17-year-old daughter thinks some of her friends cars sound really cool. I told her she should have heard my '65 Cuda 273 with a quad. (Clocked - legally - at 133 while carrying everything I owned.) I have been all over the net and cannot find a decent video or whatever to impress her with the sound. Any ideas?
