Active Aero airbrake idea
Had this idea for a while now. Dont know how functional it would be, but i think it would be cool to do regaurdless.
I know it can be done but lack the electrical knowledge to even know where to start. The idea is to have the AA spoiler act as a highspeed air brake when i have the switch in the off position, and retain its normal functionality in the auto position. Also, i only want it to raise when i hit the brakes and i'm over a certain speed (the speed where the AA would usually be up) so that it's not constantly raising and lowering at stop lights and in traffic. Now, it SEEMS that this should be able to be accomplished with some sort of relay/hotwire between the 3rd brake light and the AA spoiler motor, and some fiddling and hotwiring in the AA control module/wiring, without the need to run seperate wires from the switch or a seperate speed sensor or anything...but again, my electrical knowledge is very limited, which brings me to my reason for posing... any knowledgable people have spare time and want to take on an original project? lol. Unfortunately the only thing i have to contribute to the project besides the idea is a working AA control module. |

Re: Active Aero airbrake idea
It would be neat feature to say you have, but probably wouldn't do a whole lot. Just go buy a Veyron!

Re: Active Aero airbrake idea
Hmm, when I drove my uncle's Crossfire I thought it worked just like our active aero works. It could either be turned on manually, on auto, or just turned off all together. I may have to ask him about this.

Re: Active Aero airbrake idea
it would be absolutely useless. Unless you shoot a parachute out the back of your car, no active spoiler will make any noticable difference in stopping power.

Re: Active Aero airbrake idea
i have the time and most of the knowledge, but i'm in pa, your in texas if i remember correctly.
air-brake wings in history: slr mclaren has one, and it's very effective, as does the previously mention veyron. the crossfire had the idea, but it was unintentional, the spoiler would change angles before retracting into the body of the car, but that was for the ease of it into the car, no real purpose, and likely it doesn't do anything for the car. other than those 3 i can't think of any
