usually 1 qt over will cause foaming of the fluid and bad shifting...always top off when hot...slowly a few oz at a time...

to remove with out wrenches use a hand pump with a 3.5 ft of 3/8 plastic tubing....I have a gear oil hand/qt bottle pump that with the 3/8 tubing will quickly suck out the fluid...stick tubing down the fill/dip stick tube...

yes the tranny fluid is very foamy, the problem that i was telling you about where it felt like i was driving with my foot on the brake and she was holding back was the 2 front brake calipers, had a friend of mine do the fr rotors and pads as i never had the time and he told me he tightened the caliper bolts with a johnson bar and the bolts were on nice and tight so i took the bolts back out and retightened with just a regular 15 mm wrench and now the car is fine, think they were on so tight the calipers could move at all causeing her to stick

do not drive that vehicle until you remove the excess fluid...air in the fluid will damage the transmission ....

after you suck out the fluid let the fluid settle down air bubbles collapse then start ///idle fwd rev for a few times...no driving and slowly add to the lowest level on the stick..and when you see no bubbles...

go for a ride at slow speeds then after 20min of driving on level ground slowly add a few oz. until it is at the bottom of the normal operating range....

every day for a week check the level when hot on level ground ,,at the same parking area ,,,see if you need to add more..it may take a week to get out the air trapped.....

Also check it in netrual instead of in park. One transmission shop in my area does this on all transmissions and finds it is more accurate

Re: too much tranny fluid

The owners manual has a procedure for checking/adding tranny fluid.
