1/24 Fujimi Dino 206 GT - Kit review

Just received the 'new' Fujimi Dino 206 GT Pininfarina Competizione kit, and thought that maybe someone is interested to see what it looks like.
So, here we go.

First the box:



Body shell:


Doors do not open like on the previous Dino 206 kits (Eidai Grip for example). However this part is very clean with very very little flash if any and no sink marks or such.

Different bodywork parts:



Chassis, suspension parts and brakes:



Interior, suspension parts and exhausts:



Clear parts, Slightly smoked, very nice quality and details:





Chromed parts:


Wheels (diameter 17mm)


Tires and polycaps:


The tires are excellent quality, with great thread detail and molded in very nice rubber like material:




Decals and a thin metal part that looks like an antenna:


Chromed (rather aluminum) foil for the windshield:


Short but well done assembly guide:





Not a full detail kit, with some parts oversimplified (like the engine underside).
However all the parts are very crisply molded.

A good basis for a great model IMO, and I already plan to produce a detailed chassis to use with the Dino 246GT engine!

Thanks for the review. I think Fujimi has done a good job once again and the kit looks brilliant. I'm getting one for sure.

The smoke clear part is a huge plus and really saves us a lot of trouble. But I can't help to wonder if the real car has the tinted glass and head light.

Wow never saw a weirder looking ferrari? It looks like it should be driven on mars or something. Either way when i get some extra money i think ill pick one up.

It's not a Ferrari; it's a Dino. And my mileage varies a LOT with regard to your assessment. It's one of my favorite Fer.... uh, cars built by Ferrari. (The drawing on the box is pretty stylized. The real car looks much less futuristic.)

It's a V-8. The story, as I recall it, is that Enzo believed that a Ferrari, by definition, should be a V-12. Despite the fact that he named the car in honor of his dead son, he refused to call it a Ferrari. I don't think it even has the Prancing Stallion on the horn button.

I keep trying to concentrate on models of older race cars, but this one sure is a big temptation.

P.S. We are extremely grateful for the images that people post, but it would be nice if they would downsize them just a bit, so they don't stretch the forum pages beyond normal screen width. Just one wide image - like the chrome parts tree - stretches the page beyond the boundaries of many screens.

It looks a bit simplified but superb quality - I think Fujimi basically own this segment now, they've come of age I think. How's the positioning of the tabs on the chrome pieces - are they well hidden?

You can never have enough kits waiting for you. My reception always was that modeling is mostly about collecting plastics... At least your kids can inherit something!

The kit looks great and for a change there is an interesting subject being issued. I may keep it on the watch list. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Sorry for that, fixed now, it was not stretching the page on my rather small 14inch laptop screen.

You mean the ejector pin marks?

They are not to be seen on the exterior surface of the parts, so you don't have to sand the chrome if you wish to keep it like it is.

I think (I guess) he actually meant the cut off points from the tree. i.e. are the parts attached/detached without leaving visible marks on the parts.

I see.

After taking a quick look through the assembly guide I think that the points where the parts are attached to the sprue are positioned such that they are not visible once the parts are assembled.

However I wouldn't keep the factory chrome.

Whups! You are right; it's not a V-8; it's a V-6. But it still isn't a V-12, etc. etc. and so on.
