1985 Bronco 2 need to get to fuel pump

Ok now I have done soooo much work on this rig and after pulling off the smog stuff I still cant get it to start. From the looks of my fuel pump on the engine it hasnt been changed in a long time. We did drop the tank and checked the pump in the tank...good to go. We changed the inline and carb fuel filters. I just changed out the ignition module. It has a brand new carb, distributor, and alternator. The engine has less than 67k on it.

My problem is getting to the fuel pump. It sits behind the powersteering pump and above the oil sending unit. How in the heck am I supposed to get the sending unit off? There is no space in there to get a wrench, I know I tried LOL. What it does right now is crank and crank and crank but doesnt turn over. It does not act like there is fuel going into the carb at all...starter fluid will get her going and then it will die afterwards.

At this point I am willing to take any advice, except for pushing it over a cliff it is worth fixing doggonnit!!!!

Almost all the Ford's with two fuel pumps sit next to the fuel filter on a bracket.
If yours is where stated remove the power steering pump for access.
I just disconnect the inlet to the external pump and hold a can under the line when trying to start fuel should flow.

Thanks for the reply but I have another quick question as well. Upon reading up about the PCV and hose that goes with it I double checked mine and sure as shyt the hose is crackedbal on both ends. Will this effect the performance? What does it do when the hose is bad? THe valve itself is just fine but the hose is shot. It is covered in oil and who knows the last time that thing was changed.

The cracked hose will definitely cause idle problems.
