99 Dodge caravan compressor cylces off

I have gone brain dead on this 99 caravan. my idiot book advises that if compressor cycles off I can pull the low pressure cycling switch and attach a jumper wire well....this idiot needs to know where this switch is?? tks this is a 3.3 v6 99 caravan tks again

It does not have a low pressure cut out. This system has a pressure transducer which esentially takes the place of both low and high pressure switches. This link will tell you how it operates.

It is threaded onto the liquid line. That is the line between the condenser and the expansion valve. IIRC it is back in the alternator area.

tks again is there anyway to get the compressor on to get some freon into this system i read somewhere that you could hook it up with a potentiometer? tks for all of the input it's getting hot and muggy down south!

Yes you can remove the A/C clutch relay and jump #30 to #87. The bottom of the relay should be numbered. This may set a code for A/C clutch relay control though.

well it looks like it is the clutch that is the problem. the inside of the clutch turns with the jumper wire, but the outside only moves a little can the clutch be replaced without removing the compressor it looks like if i remove the windshield washer resevoir i could have room to do it or...is this just the beginning of sorrows the last time the ac worked it was blowing cold air. tks for all the input..

You need to get some gauges on it to ck pressures. From what you describe it is possibly over charged or has a restriction in the system. Another possibility is a compressor that is locking up.
