GM Tire Inflator
While reviewing the GM flyer for the 2009/2010 LaCrosse was shocked to see the LaCrosse does not have a spare tire, replaced by the GM tire inflator. Due to the fact do lots of remote travel would be very hesitant to drive a vehicle without a spare tire. Can anyone explain to me exactly how a GM tire inflator is supposed to work and any personal experience with their deployment would be appreciated. Are the inflators standard on all Buicks? Any input would be appreciated. Sounds like a deal breaker to me....

Re: GM Tire Inflator
I believe it is simply a can of compressed air with some sort sealer in it. Probably useful for a small puncture, but useless for a blowout, of some tire shredding. That said, I have never had a flat in 40 years of driving, so my spare really has been useless anyway.
If you want the spare and jack, I believe the dealer will supply them for about $250.00. Shouldn't be a deal breaker. He just might "throw" it in as a freebee. |

Re: GM Tire Inflator
Thanks for your reply. Found my answer before you posted....Not sure what GM thinking is behind this idea...besides cost cutting.
No flats in 40 years?...You should be buying lottery tickets. With that kind of luck you are sure to hit it sooner or later.....thanks for your time. |
