Question Help! Clicking in engine and a sputter

Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me determine potentially what would be wrong with my 95 grand prix 3.1L. There is a loud clicking noise coming from my engine and it only happens when I accelerate. And when I accelerate the car sputters. Well it sputters then picks up. Sorta like it's not getting enough gas then it does. I was thinking it would be the TPS (i believe that's what it's called) sensor, but that was replaced. The car does not sputter when I'm in park and I accelerate to see if it happens then. Also, the clicking noise doesn't happen as well. It just annoys me because it all only happens when I accelerate. I've replaced the fuel pump along with the fuel filter about one year ago. I've replaced the spark plugs and wires about a few months ago along with an engine coil.

There isn't a gas smell coming from the car. I would love some advice on this to what you think it would be. I'd be greatly appreciative.

Re: Help! Clicking in engine and a sputter

Welcome to AF.

The clicking noise could be many things. It could be another coil gone bad, and the sound is the spark arcing causing the click. This would also cause the sputtering/loss of power.

If one of the coils was bad would I be smelling gas? Cause isnt it essentially a misfire?

If so... I'm not smelling gas..

I always ask...

Would it be possible to get a sound clip or you tube video of the sound when the car is acting up?
