96 Park Avenue abs & traction control
My 96 Park Avenue had the ABS and traction control warning lamps come on at the same time and stay on while driving.Does anybody have any idea what would cause this?

Re: 96 Park Avenue abs & traction control
Start with the fuses first, then goes from there. A lot of times on old girls, a visual check will find things like a bad bearing has chewed the sensor, a plug is off/dirty etc. The traction control points toward the front of the car.
On the early cars they turn on and off the front brake on the wheel that is spinning in snow ice, or mud. So I would just look very close for bad wires, bad sensors and bad plugs. after that it is matter of taking a lot of time and checking with appropriate electronic gear, or. Take the thing to some one with an ABS scanner and take a look. They are about 175$ to 500$ at auto part stores or "things" like mack, snap on, or napa |

Re: 96 Park Avenue abs & traction control
Thanks for the reply. At times after the car has been shut off the lights stay off for a few miles then come back on.I think I will take it in and a scan tool put on it when I find some extra money.

Re: 96 Park Avenue abs & traction control
I remember I had the right front wheel removed a couple of months ago for a leaking tire. The guys that did it did not torque the wheel when it was put back on.I pulled this wheel and re-torqued it to 100 lbs.ft a week ago and not have had any problems since. The lights have gone off and stayed off.Does anybody think this could have been the problem by causing the rotor to be warped at a high torque setting?
