Possible legal issue with bad part
Hi guys
So last summer I noticed I had a torn CV boot and it started making the usual clicking sounds soon after, so in about November I got a rebuilt CV Axle from advance auto parts and threw it on there... all was good up until about 2 weeks ago when it started doing horrible things to the steering wheel, jerking it around, wanting to jump off the road, a horrible thumping sound when cornering... so I warrantied it out and got another rebuilt. I threw that on, it started doing the clicking right away. I told them I would wait and see a week if it went away or whatever (fat chance right). My bearing on the same wheel was going bad so I figured I'd just do both at once, so I got a NEW!!! axle and a hub assembly and did the job today. The rebuilt axle's inner joint was getting so hot that it melted the inner seal on my tranny, when I took the axle out tranny fluid started to pour out, I lost about a quart before I had the sense to stuff the new axle into the hole, doesn't seem to be leaking now... so I'm worried it will start leaking soon and someone (I don't feel I have the skills to drop/take apart the tranny) will need to replace that seal... I believe it would be their responsibility, but what should I do from here? Should I hold onto the rebuilt axle that caused the problem(I was going to warranty it and get most of my money back from the new axle) or any other advice from anyone who has been in this spot??? I'm certainly not opposed to going to court over this. Thanks guys! |
