Question Re: find title by vin#

You might be able to track the van down with the vin number but there's no guarantee that this individual still has the van .He may have sold it to someone else ! If you don't have some sort of proof that you own the van , then you are probably SOL ! It's been six months with no contact ? Doesn't sound too promising to me ! Best of luck to you - you'll probably need it !

Re: find title by vin#

I worked for VA dmv so it may be different in your state but here you would need to go to the dmv and do a vin search. after that you would need to apply for an abandoned vehicle title and send a letter to the owner named on the title (which includes any lien holders). The letter must be sent certified and you have to wait for 30 days. After 30 days you can go back to dmv and apply for the abandoned vehicle title. You must take copies of the letters and mailing reciepts along with the vehicle transcripts (vin search).
