Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
Hi guys,
i am running into problem using Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium, no matter how well i have mixed the paint, the paint just diffuse itself (please see picture), the paint is level and it is definitely not air bubbles. Any help? BTW, i used tamiya surface primer + Tamiya TS30 Silver leaf as base paint + TS17 for top coat.. thanks in advance!!!

Re: Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
ouch!!!! that don't look too good but to me it looks as though the gloss aluminum(TS-17) reacted with the silver leaf(TS-30). Was the silver wet when you sprayed it?

Re: Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
I know from decanting that Tamiya silver leaf doesn't like to be mixed with anything. I'd say you have a reaction from the gloss aluminum over silver leaf. You don't need to use silver leaf under gloss aluminum. Totally unnecessary step when used over gray primer. Gloss aluminum covers quite well.

Re: Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
I've seen this same thing when I've gotten too heavy-handed with spraying it on. Try lighter mist coats.

Re: Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
That's pretty severe.
My usual process for TS-17 is to spray a couple of light coats over grey primer. Nothing too wet, and no base coats. It works every time. |

Yes, try a first light coat of silver and of clear. If is too wet then both paint's get in reaction

Re: Tamiya TS17 gloss aluminium help!
I've had problems with the TS-17s as well. I just started putting on light coats each hour. About 5 coats and I get even layers.
