Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
Does anyone know an easy way to test a MAF to see if its bad or not?
Also will this make your car stall out ? They are quite expensive. I would hate to buy one unless I'm sure. thanks 1997 lesabre |

Re: Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
A scan tool is the best method of testing. It will show air flow in terms of grams of air per second (gps), with a range from 3gps to 150 gps. The MAF sensor produces a frequency output between 32 and 150 hertz.

Re: Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
You should! Do you have symptoms other than stalling; please give us more details of how & when the stalling problem happens.

Re: Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
usually dies when decelerating from 35-50 mph, and I don't have my foot on the gas. It just stops, but It will start right back up while I'm drifting. The only other symptom I can think of is I have to pump the gas pedal to get the car to start
approx. 35% of the time. I do own a DTC scanner and I am not getting any codes. Any Suggestions?? |

Re: Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
I had one that was intermittent. Caused dying and run real rough. and eventually couldnt go at all. After starting and dying a few times it threw a trouble code that led me to the MAF. I unplugged it, and I could at least limp home. Opened it up (I thought I would have to order one, so nothing to loose), and I found a cold solder joint (actually a solder ball that was just laying on the contact). I soldered it and glued everything back together. It ran fine for a couple years till I traded the car.

Re: Bad Mass Air Flow Sensor ???
Check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line for raw fuel (gas)!
