Help with Premier turning 100,000

My 2001 is turning 100,000 and Iread with great interest the cam problem at 140,000. The van has had the ticking noise for a couple of years without any problems. Is the cam breaking a definite issue ?

Re: Help with Premier turning 100,000

The cam breakage issue seems related to the LIM gasket issues when coolant leaks internally and washes away the oil off the cam bearings. If yours has not had internal coolant leakage or it was caught early, you may not have any problems. I have seen several 3.4 engines over 200,000 miles without cam breakage.

Is the noise a ticking sound or a knocking type sound? These engines are known for piston slap when the engine is cold. It goes away once warmed up.
