Good Brand of some tires
Hey guys,
Well I have a flat! Someone slashed my tire and now I need to replace it.I wanted to know everyones personal opinions on several tire brands that would be the best to get. I would like to stick with Kuhmo BUT alot of shops around here don't carry them. Currently I have Kuhmo Ectsa Supras 215 45 17. Well here are some brands: Nankang Hankook Yokohama Nitto Falken -Here are some Kuhmos i have in mind to get.- Can you take a look at these and let me know If they are a good matchup of what I have now?..please. Thanks alot. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=215 Thanks |

Re: Good Brand of some tires
Yokohama's are the best IMO
my family runs them on all but one of our cars

Re: Good Brand of some tires
It sounds like you're replacing just the one that got slashed? If so, and you have an "above average need for traction", get the exact same as what's on the car or it wont handle right. If you replace a pair, you can get any tire you want.

Re: Good Brand of some tires
Did you guys look at that link I posted? Will those be good enough If I get two of them?
And Cody , those tires are way too costly! I would def. get them If I could afford them..hehe.But for now I have to stay on the lower side. And J-Ri,the slashed tire is the right rear.So what If I replace BOTH rear tires would that work? Thanks guys |

Re: Good Brand of some tires
As long as you replace two... generally you would put the new ones on the front and move the two best old ones to the rear... or if you use those as "all-season" and need to replace a pair before winter, put the new ones on the back so they wear less.
I took a quick look at them, they don't seem bad... but the BFG Traction T/A "X" (X= either "H" or "V", I forget and I'm not gonna go look) that I got were cheaper (commercial discount, may be about the same without it, I don't know), have higher traction and treadwear ratings, and are made here at home. I've also heard that Kuhmos don't live up to the treadwear ratings they claim. Not sure about performance tires, but our supplier said that the "all-season" with 85k mile warrantys will go about 60k if the alignment's perfect. Not sure what that would be in UTQG numbers, but it's quite a bit.

Re: Good Brand of some tires
I'm hoping to get BF Goodrich's for both my cav (again), and my impala (replacing the Goodyear garbage) as soon as I can get the money.

Re: Good Brand of some tires
i run kuhmos on most my cars, they seem to be the best value when balancing price, performance, ride, and longevity. the olds gets bfgs. the redneck in me just wont let me run kuhmos on classic muscle.
