new exhaust parts: ordered!

so i placed some orders at IPS today. i went for the IPS SS catback, and a hi-flow cat from randomtech (metallica not the crappy ceramic) should be here in "2-5 business days". if i can figure out how, ill try to get some before/after sound clips up for those who are interested

EDIT: i thought of a question. i was thinking this is gonna be a super easy install. step 1: unbolt old cat and piping, mufflers, etc. step 2: bolt on new stuff. am i right? the cat isnt welded on is it? i know it is on some older cars and i havent actually looked at it since i dont have a good enough jack (thats something else i need to buy)

nice man that should be a good setup. And ya it is pretty much that easy just sometimes the bolts are rusted and thats makes it sooo much fun to take off, the cat is not weld on either. But ya if u can try to get some sound clips on youtube or somethin.

It might as well be welded on, believe me unless the cat is new it will not come off easy. Exhaust work is never easy, get a cutting torch or air powered cut off wheel and prepare for the worse...

Re: new exhaust parts: ordered!

I used a sawzall to but the cat off my parts car exhaust. I just cut as close as I could to the bottom of the nut, then once I was thru I just smacked it with a hammer and it fell out.

Re: new exhaust parts: ordered!

ugh. so APPARENTLY, ips is having some issues. i just got off the phone with jeff, and it turns out that the company supplying the canisters for their SS and dual tips went under. which means that theyre looking for a supplier. which means i had to shuffle some funda around to make things workout. since im moving to hawaii before i have to get smogged again, and they dont do smog there, i switched the random tech cat to a test pipe and got an HKS muffler instead of the one they had. ended up being about the same overall price. should be here in under a week! yay

Re: new exhaust parts: ordered!

update:

got the partss thursday, and ive got most of it on now. i ended up leaving the cat on for now (im not sure if it gets inspected before shipment) and i left the main exhaust pipe stock for now too. so i just put the ips pipe on the stock main and put on the HKS muffler. it isnt really much louder but it sounds alot differnet and IMO it looks better too. ill try to do a video later today if the weather isnt too bad
