help identify gm engine

Hi to all! I'm new in this forum, I'm from Mexico (sorry for my english)
I need your help to identify a GM big block engine (I think could be 454 or 427 of the end of the 60's or 70's early) the numbers that I found on the engine are:

T0219IV, 18L141800
3918828T HIPERFPASS 3 TRUCK
CM3 COM2

Could you specify where you found them. Also what color is the block?

Hi, sorry for answer late, the engine in question belong to a friend of mine, and he told me he found the numbers and words in the following places of the block:

T0219IV : located on a ledge on the passenger side of the block deck at the front (we think that’s the engine assembly date); also there is the 18L141800 number

3918828T: located at the driver side of the block

HIPERFPASS 3 TRUCK: located at the rear face of the block inside the perimeter of the bellhousing mating surface; also near are the words CM3 and COM2

The engine block doesn’t have original color. The oil filter it´s a cartidge (old style) and the intake manifold it’s very tall! (no aluminium)

Chilton educated guesses.....

T0219IV -- IV indicates a 1966-1968 Chevrolet Mark IV [big block] 396ci V8 with a Hydraulic camshaft installed in a Full-Size Chevrolet (Biscayne/BelAir/Caprice/Impala). Possibly made in Towanda [sp.] New York ["T"]. The "IV" is just coincidental to the Mark IV.

The specs for this engine are:
CR: 10.25:1
HP: 325@4800
TQ: 410@3200
Bore x Stroke: 4.094 x 3.760 in.

18L141800 -- "18" maybe ID as a '68 + vehicle Unit # [141800 - start at 100,001] -- "L" would be the vehicle assembly plant.

HIPERFPASS 3 TRUCK cast into the block -- I think this has something to do with whether or not the block has four-bolt mains or not.

Respectfully, this does not sound quite right.

This may be a tall-deck truck block. Measure the width of the intake manifold to be sure. Compare it to a car-type BB engine. The truck blocks use a wider intake manifold.

Cars and light trucks used spin-on oil filters. The industrial- type big blocks used for medium-duty trucks often used cannister filters.
How tall is the intake? Trucks had lots of room for tall intake manifolds, but the cars used short intakes for hood clearance.

Finally, the word TRUCK cast into the block is a very good sign its a tall-deck engine.

These engines were usually heavy, low-revving, high-torque engines and are not a performance engine by any stretch of the imagination.

The heads, manifolds, pistons and valve train were all different from the car BB's and few ordinary BB performance parts fit. These engines can be built for performance (expensive!!) but they are a bear to fit in many chassis, due to their taller deck.

There are lots of them around. They were made in 366, 396 and 427 cid displacements. They often fool car enthusiasts because they look so similar to the desireable car BB engine.

However, I could be wrong here, its just a suggestion.

Could someone help me find out what engine it is by the serial number or maybe a siet that could help me find out what car that engine came out of.. the serial number is 1109152-F0531C0

hi everyone im new i need help finding out what this engine is and what year the numbers on the passengers side deck are vk132800 the numbers on the back are the castings i do beleive they are 14016379 all i no is its a small block chevy...... im gona put it in my race car but want to no what it is and how much horse power...... thank everyone for the help

Tha's an early 350 "truck" block. Can't say about the horsepower. What is the head casting (last three digit of the 7 or 8 digit number, found between the valve springs)?

If you're going to put it in a race car, it must be disassembled and checked carefully before using it. If it's all "stock", it won't be suitable for racing, unless the class you're in requires a "stock" low-performance engine. Even then, if "used", you're rolling the dice every time you hammer it.

Go to this site www.MORTECH.com You can find out what year the block and heads were made just write down your numbers from the back of the block & heads then match them off of the site.
