Angry VR Turning Off

i have a 1994 Vr commodore executive, on the odd occasion i can be driving along and suddenly the revs drop to nothing all the dash lights come on and i lose my power steering, then instead of stoping i can just put it into Neutral and turn the key and on she comes, its only happened about 3-4 times but im unsure of the problem.

Re: VR Turning Off

with the engine running, give the wiring harness a good wiggle at the dfi module, which is locaded directly beneath the coil packs.
if the engine stalls,report back.
this is a common problem,
but only one of many possibilities

Re: VR Turning Off

As stated, wiring harness at the coil packs is a common fault. The fuel filter could also be dirty or the fuel pump 'pre-filter strainer' could be dirty and clogged up your pump(need a new fuel pump, $220 from Repco)

Also check the harmonic balancer has not cracked its rubbers.

Re: VR Turning Off

Hi, my Vn has no spark. Have changed the coil pack, crank angle sensor, computer, dfi and checked the earths. I checked the relays by swapping and trying the lights., and checked the fuses. I have one spark plug out, but still no spark. When the ignition is on, the inside fan is not working. The fan has only stopped since this trouble started. This is really strange and I wondered if any one has any other ideas on what this could be. Thanks.

Re: VR Turning Off

The interior fan is not working? Is your fan control on? The fan circuit is not part of the wiring loom for the engine unless than main fuse has blown, which means the car would not turn over at all.

Sure your crank pulley is not broken on the rubber?
