Angry ignition lock cylinder

to make a long story short I am a moron. I just purchased a 1995 neon loved driving it for the two days I could. The problem is I have lost the ONE and only key that I had for it. I called the dodge dealer and was told as long as the ignition lock cylinder hadn't been changed he could make me a key and hope for the best because we have no clue if it was changed or not. My question now is if it has been changed and i have to replace the unit how hard is it and can anybody give me very detailed idiot proof directions on how to switch it out.

Thanks!!

Re: ignition lock cylinder

It's really easy to replace. If you need detailed instructions, I can provide them to you. But find out first if you need to replace it.

Re: ignition lock cylinder

Im praying that I don't have to replace it. I have ripped my house apart looking for the damn key. I shouldn't hide things on me. The Service guy at Dodge told me that ignition problems were common and chances are it may have been replaced in that case Im SOL I have read instructions on how to remove and replace however without a key i can't turn it to the on position.

Re: ignition lock cylinder

Do all the locks match? If so than it is unlikely that all of them were changed. I am not sure about Dodge but GM puts a lock code number on the lock. If so I would remove the trunk lock and get the number. Most locksmiths can cut a key using this number. If not a good one should make a key to match the lock.
