1987 Toyota Corolla FX Chargeing issue
I have a 1987 Toyota Corolla FX that just refuses to charge the battery. I replaced the alternator and even took the brand new alternator back twice for another. According to the tests at the parts house all 3 alternators were good. I have checked wires, fuses, and everything else in the line of the chargeing circuit and cannot find the reason for it not chargeing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: 1987 Toyota Corolla FX Chargeing issue
Check the charging system in the car.
With the car running, either have a shop check the system for proper voltage/amperage, or you can use a multi-meter to check voltage at the battery terminals. Between 14 and 15 volts is perfect (no higher than 15). New or not, I would bet the battery is defective. |

Re: 1987 Toyota Corolla FX Chargeing issue
Tried that. I get the same voltage on the battery when the car is running and when it is not running. I also put a known good battery out of my truck (which has an extra large battery for emergency lights) and still got no more when the car was running than I did when it wasnt running. The parts house has verified the alternator is good and is chargeing but I just cant seem to get it working when it is in the car.
