What Temp doe Radiator fan kick in?

I have a 2001 Montana and I just replace a bad radiator fan motor (It was squeaking and turn rough by hand). After replacing the motor I let the engine run wanting to see if the fan would kick in. The temp got up to 220 before I cooled the engine down by driving it. I know the old fan motor kicked because I heard it squeaking, few day ago, after turning off the motor.

Does anyone know what temp the radiator fans kick in?

Re: What Temp doe Radiator fan kick in?

.

On this forum or a different forum (cannot remember exactly where), I stumbled upon a collection poll asking folks about RAD Temp Readings on a Venture vans. I would assume the temps for a Venture van is "near the same" for a 2001 Montana van. In that poll, the temp range was between 177F to 212F. For my 2009 Montana with 3.9L engine, its temp seems to hold "solid" at 214F (or 102C).

For a nice diagram, see: http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/temperature-gauge.html

Hope this helps in your research...

Possibly between 200 and 226 (???).

For details, surf entire page of:

http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/engi...ng-system.html

Thermostate opens at 195 (if per above URLs).

Hope this helps as well...

the second link says the temp warning lights comes on after 262 degrees.
Isn't that already over heating and why doesn't it warn at a lower temp BEFORE overheating?

Quote:
The "Engine Coolant Temperature" message should appear (on dash) if the engine coolant temperature is above about 262°F

Re: What Temp doe Radiator fan kick in?

I will let run the motor and let it get a little hotter and see if the fan kicks in. I turned on the AC and the fan ran. I check it out farther. Thank you all for your help.

the fan should kick on when the temp gauge gets a little above halfway .if the temp goes up a little farther then the second fan will kick in. never seen the fan on a 3.4 kick in before a little after halfway.if yours is coming on just above halfway then this is normal.
