Unhappy 92 Chevrolet K 1500 battery issues

So latley my battery keeps going dead. I hooked the test light up between the pos. cable and the pos. battery post. Shows a draw with everything shut off. Sounds easy like pull fuses but I tried that and nothing changed. Heres the Funny part when I disconnect the test light and hook it back up It quits drawing but it will briefly light the test light than go out. Also if I turn the key to the on position and shut it back off the test light remains light until disconnected and reconnected!!

Any Ideas would be appreciated!! Been a long process so far thanks in advance!!

Why not use an amp meter inline-- from a DVM digital volt meter.. then start pulling fuses- much easier way- and your can determine the amount of amp draw.

You evidently have a "latched on" relay circuit that is drawing- then when power is disconnected, it too quits.. this may be normal as there are modules which may take up to several minutes to go to sleep...

You can watch all this happen if you use an amp meter....

Re: 92 Chevrolet K 1500 battery issues

Ayup sounds like a sticking relay. Connect a multi-meter in series with the battery, then turn the ignition to on (don't start the truck!) to set the rogue relay then shut it back off. Then start removing/reinserting fuses to pin down the circuit where the bad relay is. When the amp draw goes to zero you've found the circuit. You may also have to turn on some accessories first to get the relay to set. Good luck!
