Both the brake lights and the rear blinkers don’t work although the rear window brake light works fine. The front blinkers and the reverse lights also work.

Could this be a common ground problem?

Re: 97 Lumina malfunctioning brake lights

I would think the siganal switch is bad, if no current coming out of the harness to the stop lite circuit from the signal switch connector and the fuse and stop lite switch are ok, then the signal sw is bad.

Re: 97 Lumina malfunctioning brake lights

I did the easiest test/check 1st. Cycled the flashers on and off 4 or 5 times - and sure enough – brake lights work.

Read in an earlier thread that this action could cause the contacts in the siganal switch to wipe clean and might restore enough contact for brake lights to work.

Thanks for the help.
