97 Lumina fuel pump problems

Car wont start.

When key is turned on, a double clicking sound is heard from tank area.

Put a new fuel pump in couple weeks ago and been driving no problems.

No pressure at the fuel rail on top of motor and cant hear the pump run, just clicking.

Re: 97 Lumina fuel pump problems

Was the fuel pump the OEM original manufacturer brand? If not- I highly suspect that is the problem. You need to check for 12 volts at the connector to the pump- on the gray wire- for 2 seconds upon KOEO....key on engine off.

Re: 97 Lumina fuel pump problems

It was the ele plug by back corner of the tank. When I went to test it, I unplugged it, blew it out and plugged it back together ad it fired right up.
The gas tank was just recently replaced and it must be a finicky plug.

It’s my son’s car and the check engine light is on with a gas tank emissions code. We changed out the filler neck to the gas tank thinking that was the problem but when we went to clear the code by disconnecting the neg terminal to the battery for 30 secs, it stayed on.

The solenoid to the in the driver side rear quarter panel clicks when KOEO. Is that normal?
