how reliable are suburbans '05 and newer?
I'm looking to buy a used 9 passenger '05-08 SUV --Suburbans and Expeditions(excursions) are the only ones I know that have this many seats. Never had anything larger than a minivan. Are '05-07 suburbans pretty reliable? Any trouble years or things to look out for?
This is probably the wrong forum, but any thoughts on how they compare to the expedition xl? thanks. |

Re: how reliable are suburbans '05 and newer?
Very good and ones with a 5.3 get very good fuel mileage. The 5.3s do have problems with intake gaskets, blow out and causes a miss. The intake gaskets are plastic and clip on the intake.

Thanks for the reply. Are they still using plastic intake manifold gaskets? Even on '06-07 models? Any other things to look out for?

Re: how reliable are suburbans '05 and newer?
I have 2 burbs at work which we transport students with. They're both 05's with 6.0L engines and 4wd. 68 & 72,000 miles, No problems! They still drive like new. I must state that we perform regular maintenance on them, Oil, filters etc.
I hope you get a good one.
