Re: 94 4.3L S10 Blazer Oil issues?

It cannot be the roll pin. When pin shears the engine dies because the dist stops turning.
My money is on the oil pump pickup fell out or up.

You have to make sure if the pump rotates Clockwise or Counterclockwise so you know how to set the drill motor. I suggest that you use at least a 1/2 Horse drill motor if you decide to do this. This is normally used when installing a brand new motor into a vehicle. Anyway this procedure will spin the pump and and pressurize the lube system without even turning the motor over. If you do pull your distributor out to inspect the drive rod, this procedure only takes a minute and will tell you if your oil pump is working.

Good luck.
Exactly what I was thinking. Inspect everything on your way down for any problems. Test pump for proper operation. If no noticeable problems and no oil through the pump.... suspect pump or pickup.

Thumbs up Re: 94 4.3L S10 Blazer Oil issues?

Everything turned out fine on the truck. Ended up that the oil pump was a little plugged. So i flushed the system out twice with those motor flushes when I found out it was pumping oil. I used the primer tool and got it pumping oil great!! So thanks for everyones help as Its perfect again!

Congrats man, glad to see that you posted back with your solution. I am still wondering what caused your initial problem.

Post back if you can elaborate on the problem and/or the fix so we may all benefit down the road.

Anyway congrats again and enjoy the ride.

Re: 94 4.3L S10 Blazer Oil issues?

Well I bought the truck off a dealership lot and took a big chance as It had no oil pressure. But i had two existing motors for it from my 89 jimmy and 91 s10. So it was a steal now that I got it working with ease. I think the previous dealership didn't change the oil and plugged it completly up. What a total moron! So its great now!

Oh yeah, and I got the truck for $500.00 cause the old white guy from the dealership thought it was a oil pump also. So now its worth about 2,200 in fair price on KBB. so good or deal!

Man, that is sweet.

What do your oil pressure readings look like now?

What did you use to flush the system? I have never heard of an oil system being so gunked up that the pump won't pump anymore. I have seen some sludge monsters, but this one sounds like a winner.
