Coolant
Would it be O.K. to get rid of the orange coolant and swap to the green stuff. I heard that the orange stuff has a bad problem with sludge. I am tired of cleaning my coolant level sensor. 1999 GP GT with 189,000 miles on it.

Re: Coolant
No problems with switching to green extended life coolant but make sure a cooling system flush is done first. Are you losing any coolant? Unexplained coolant loss? You can get sludge with regular green EL coolant too. The sludge may be combustion byproducts getting into the cooling system due to bad upper or lower intake manifold gaskets or air in the cooling system.
The Dex-cool should be replaced 5 years or 150K miles, whichever comes first. A sooner interval is better.

Re: Coolant
Was loosing lots of coolant. Found the upper and lower coolant tubes leaking so bad that you could see it dripping at idle. Changed those last week and I am monitoring the coolant now to see if I have any other leaks. UIM and LIM gaskets seem to be O.K. I guess all I can do is monitor it for now.

i always suggest to my customers to switch to the green coolant. too many times i have seen alot of erosion in the cooling system causing other problems. seen problems from a 91 minivan to a 99 trans am.
