1998 bonneville start problem

car was running fine, shut vehicle off to get a coffee, returned to vehicle, the ignition key seemed not to turn ignition switch as usual, allowing ignition switch to crank and start car. i noticed the security light was lit on dash. i removed key from ignition switch, opened the car door, shut the door, put key back in ignition switch, car started right up. the security light on dash went off too. while driving home, the interior lights remained on the entire drive home. after shutting off vehicle, the interior-headlights-tail lights remained on for a long time. all lights finally shut off. i disconnected battery tonight incase of lights going back on. can the head light switch be going bad? what about a bad ignition switch for the problem withthe key in switch not allowing me to turn igntion switch as usual? possibly steering wheel was in an unusual bind/position, but second try the key did turn switch and start car. why did the security light appear first falied attemp to start car, then the second time not come on when car started? can the sentinal headlight switch be going bad also? any help greatly appreciated. jt

Re: 1998 bonneville start problem

Common issue with the ign switches and the Vats wiring connected to it both for security and start situation, do you have sentinel ltes that can have the delay adjusted, also the interior lite timer could be acting up see if this continues.
