2000 Corolla front end vibration
At speeds of 50mph or less there is no vibration . once over 50 the vibration gradually gets worse. at 65mph you can see the steering wheel shaking. its not bad enough to be unsafe but very annoying. I recently had all 4 struts replaced , all 4 wheels balanced , and a 4 wheel alignment. any ideas as to what could be wrong? balljoints maybe? thanks for any help you guys can give me!!

Re: 2000 Corolla front end vibration
The ball joints and/or tie rod ends could be shot. Raise the front wheels off thye ground and check them for looseness. Any play means that joint is worn out. Good luck!

Re: 2000 Corolla front end vibration
As suggested, check the ball joints and tie rod ends (both inner and outer).
Also check the front wheel bearings for looseness and roughness as you turn it by hand. They will usually howl as you drive the car. You'll have to remove the brake rotors and axles to check for roughness. It will feel like there's dirt or sand in it when you turn it by hand. It should be very smooth as you turn it. The reason I went into such depth about the front bearings is because that body style, with more than 100,000 miles, has a tendency to eat front bearings. Of course, not all of them do. |

Re: 2000 Corolla front end vibration
you can check what others have posted but I would suspect the half shaft (axle) on the passenger side. You will need a new half shaft and about half a day to replace.
Post back if you solve the problem |

Re: 2000 Corolla front end vibration
At speed, i'd say have them recheck the balance. You might have pitched a weight or two.

One thing you can try is swap one front tire at a time to the rear and see if the vibration moves as well. When the alignment was done, there should have been a complete suspension inspection performed BEFORE the alignment. Was there?
