04 with noisy frt hubs??

This 04 Sierra 4x4 has a noise while driving down the road.It is hard to describe,but increases with vehicle speed.The only way I can describe it as a deep sounding whine.You would almost say that it was road noise from the tires.The noise started about a month ago and I feel that I can eliminate the tires because the summer tires have been put on and the noise is still there.It appears to be coming from the front of the vehicle.Has anyone had problems with the front hubs failing or becoming noisy??Thanks for any help.

It appears that the problem was a worn hub bearing.After jacking both sides up and rotating each wheel,it was quite obvious which hub was faulty.
