1996 accord lx engine removal

I'm replacing the engine in my 1996 lx 2.2 4cyl with another one of the same size. Just wondering: Is it easier to unbolt the torque converter and leave the transmission in the vehicle or should I pull the transmission with the engine at the same time? Is there room for the engine to move enough to get out without much of any difficulty-I'm using an engine crane to do this.. Thanks for the info...

Re: 1996 accord lx engine removal

After spending a little over a day, I got the engine--and transmission out of the vehicle. It was easier to remove both at the same time. My second engine/trans removal, but my first time with a Honda. This one was much easier than one pulled out of a 95 Chevy Cavalier. Honda has their heads together!!! Thanks Honda!!!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier...

Most FWD cars it's a lot easier to pull the engine and transaxle together than try to split them in place, IMO.

Some you gotta use dummy shafts in the transaxle if you pull both CV axles out...or the diff will fall apart. Check a manual for reference first. I don't think Honda is this way. I remember some Ford Escorts like that...
