First time doing a larger job successful :)

I did change the spark plugs and oil before but this weekend I worked on changing out the sending unit on a 2001 Rodeo. Probably a quick install for some people but it took me 10-15 hours total between running back and forth to the store for tools, looking through the service manual or finding a video showing how to remove the hoses (lol that took 2+ hours alone to disconnect those things).

Getting everything back together wasn't that hard even though I found out there was 1/2 a tank left (I lowered and raised using 2 jacks). Been constantly looking underneath no leaks and I can finally figure out how much gas is left

Only downside is I knew someone that would have done it for $100 and I spent like $150 on tools/jacks and the sending unit lmao.

Re: First time doing a larger job successful :)

Congrats.

Changing the FSU was my first big job too. It took me a while as well. I stumbled upon a couple of problems with old rusted bolts breaking and what not. I didnt haave to spent money on tools since I just borrowed what i didnt have from friends but I ended up getting new fuel lines and what not. I too found out I had 1/2 tank. It was such a twist. But yeah, i think it paided off considering how I know how much gas I have now.

Adding to your tool collection is always better than paying someone else to do it for you.

Yep the bolts that held the fuel lines to the side were rusted and broke off for me as well. It wasn't too hard to replace those. I drove it myself yesterday and have about 120 miles on it and just sitting at 1/4 tank.
