My first jeep, problems it has: when cold at start up going through the first gear change makes a noticably slip, or ghost shift. when it warms up doesn't do that near as often if at all. Give it gas durning first gear shift won't slip or ghost shift at all! Adjustment or replacement? Which tranny model is in the truck? Next issue is loud chirping noise during sharp turning? During start up engine cold I hear a loud clicking noise coming from what seems to lower crankcase not a lifter problem???? any ideas? When I bought it, I had a very inconsistant idle, I replaced the iac motor, and the idle was good for awhile (a few days), now if you stop a stoplight for 4-5 minutes the idle will go from very good to idleing like crap and sound like it wants to stall out. No real change in RPMS while idling like crap!
Engine has 4.0v6 with 63,000 miles Body has 169,200 miles |

Re: 1997 Jeep Grand cherokee 4x4 lots of problems
for your idle problem it look like the precatalitic oxygen sensor but you have to take out the fault code of your pcm for. with the code we can see if you have a sensor to change on your tranny
