Re: Very rough idle and chugging under load
If the injector was bad, the plug wouldn't be wet with fuel. But is it fuel? Did you smell it? If it's oil, we got another issue.
I'd need to check the compression in that hole before proceeding...

Re: Very rough idle and chugging under load
Ok, had some extra time and did a more thorough analysis on the plugs today. The plug in the bad cylinder was covered in a light layer of liquid. It smelled a lot more like oil than it did of gas. In fact, the only reason I think I smell any gas on it was because I wanted to smell it. I have had a slight oil leak on that cylinder for a while so would assume the liquid is primarily all oil.
I also checked the color of the spark. The plug wire is sending a blue spark to the plug and the plug is emitting a more orange color spark. The plug wire does have some white/brown dusting above the boot which I believe might be due to electrical arching. I will check the color of the spark at night just to verifiy more accurately. I tried to listen for the fuel injector activation by holding a ratchet against the fuel injector and the other end to my ear, but was not able to make out any distinguishable difference. I do not have a compression tester and due to the lack of car am kind of limited on the short notice of getting to the auto store. Once again, thanks for the help |
