Re: 2000 Windstar p1151, cant pass emissions
sorry I never posted the resolution. I ended up going to Ford and just got screwed out of $800...well, the code switched to P0171.
When I took it in, they said that the lower intake plenum, was warped, and they had to replace it and the gaskets. (i had just replaced the gaskets myself, but they figured I ruined them.) So I figured, fine, I just wanted to get it past emissions. When they called me back to come pick it up, I went in and was told that they actually ended up replacing a couple injectors instead, and that it was fixed. So I was happy, and got in the van, and drove down the street to a gas station to fill up the tank (less than a mile away), once I finished and started it up to leave, BING! the light came back on, so I went right back to them with it. They could not believe the light was back on, but I left it there for them to take a look at it. When I got home there was a message from them. The code had changed to p0171 and they needed an additional $600 to change 2 more injectors. I said no (i was running out of money, and patience). I picked it up a went to a local shop and dropped it off, and told them I ONLY wanted to get past emissions. They called me back later that day "you got a plate for this thing?" They changed an 02 sensor and and taken it to emissions for me. Total with them was $230 and I had a plate on my van. So thats the story. Thanks for they help here though. |

Re: 2000 Windstar p1151, cant pass emissions
so the actual problem was a bad O2 sensor, which one? I heard there are 4 O2 sensors on the windstar?
I'm so sorry to hear about how Ford screwed you over. I'd go talk with the manager and demand my money back for not fixing the actual problem and you can show them the work from the other garage and demonstrate that you were able to pass the emissions test hence showing that the real problem was a bad O2 sensor. There is no point in paying Ford money for a problem that was not fixed. But that is just me. I'd be mighty ticked to know that I paid $800 for a fix that didn't work.
