Iwata CR with air cans?
Ok, I really want a airbrush, but I can't afford a compressor, is there anyone here that has run the Iwata CR with Paasche air cans?
Thanks Austin

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
If you can't afford a compressor, save your money.
Use Tamiya spray cans instead.

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
Testors airbrush propellent and bottle work awesome, thats what I used for the STR.
they cost about 20 dollars (comes with paint) , and you can get about 3-4 models per small bottle, the larger bottle is 15 dollars and about three times the size, its also very light and easy to use, no airbrush needed, just clean the bottle and the next paint is ready.

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
I'm totally with Klutzski on this. Propellant cans are crap. Do no waste your money on them, put it towards a decent compressor and regulator. Meanwhile, Tamiya cans are a better option.
Sure, you can apply paint with them. I expect you could also apply paint with a pump trigger spray bottle. But they are a very poor option (they offer no way to regulate pressure- and it's important in airbrushing). A compressor and regulator will only cost about $125. It is worth the investment.

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
I bought a brand new Iwata compressor on ebay for less than $60. Come on, that's like what, 4 propellant cans?

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
All I know is, I'd like to get half the results with my airbrush and compressor that Spike did with his canned air...

just like in Hockey, while many players use composite fiber sticks, real wood sticks are still just as good, sometimes this hobby gets expensive, but you can still make fantastic results with cheaper stuff, time and time again just my 2 cents, now someone can blast me all they want ![]() cheers, steve

Have you considered the old tyre inner tube trick?
Never tried it myself but sounds cheaper than all those cans of air. |

With a decent reg, there's no reason it wouldn't work....

Re: Iwata CR with air cans?
Thanks everyone for your useful advice! I am gonna save and wait. I just went out and sprayed a 250TR with a Tami can, and can tell you that some areas are like glass! Thanks you so much everyone!
