Hello,
First off I do have the 171 and 174 codes (2000 Ford Windstar SEL 3.8L) come up but I'm trying to figure out if they're showing up because of something to do with the fuel injectors. I've read and read and did I mention read all about the 171 and 174 codes and some of the articles say they may come up because of a bad fuel injector. But either way I can drive and hitting over 4000rpm will not make it "choke" only at idle when I rev up the engine . The other thing is when the transmission needs to shift down because of not enough power in that gear sometimes in jerks almost like a hesatation (SP) and sometimes I have to let off the gas for it to downshift and then it'll be fine.

Re: Van chokes at 4000-4500rpm at idle
If you haven't had or done the 171/174 repair as discussed in the sticky above that's your first step. That may solve all the problems. Second thing, I'd check the IMRC as possibly this may have broken plastic clips that is changing how your van operates at higher idle. Third thing, are you saying that your van idles at 4500 rpm?
