hatch won't pop

I have to turn the key in the lock like 10 times before it finally lets me raise the hatch. and the lever inside the car is pointless, it never unlocks it enough for it to open (it just pops it, not release it)

any ideas?

Re: hatch won't pop

I broke my key off in the hatch, luckily the lever works for me, when you have had it open did you take a look at it and make sure nothing looked out of the ordinary?

Sounds like the tumbler is shot in it... I think you can get a new one to match your key by way of the VIN and a trip to the dealership... Or you could always carry two different keys and just get a universal one. Although I wouldn't trust it too much...

Re: hatch won't pop

actually i'm thinking it doesn't have too much to do with the key, when I pop it (from inside the car) it takes like 10 times as well.

Ya mine's getting to that point too. Still get one good pull and it'll pop, but sometimes it'll take 2 or 3 times to get it to open. I'm thinking whatever cable that runs from there to the popper is old and being stretched out, kind of like the e-brake cable does.

does it open with your key, or does it take a few times with that as well?

Re: hatch won't pop

mine does something kinda like that, i can pop it with the key and then have to lift the hatch, and turn the key again to get it to open... if someone knows how to fix this issue for a decent price, i would be more then interested in getting that taken care of! ...its been testing me for quite some time now...
