1991 Dodge Dynasty 3.3L ECM burn out

Hey all I'm new member to this site but have lurked around here in the past and have found a lot of useful information. Can anyone tell me about the ecm in this vehicle and if it is known to burn out more frequently than others. The car is my dads and he's had to replace the ecm once before (2 years ago) and now again. So what might be causing the ecm to have such a short life span. Does he need to replace anything else to prevent this from happening again. I would appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks
