Re: About to run a new batch of Spoiler uprights...

Greetings ... I've been very impressed following this aero study !!!
My question is the initial angle set-up of the wing since its now working w/ it's new placement ... My existing is set at the max. "make believe" down force placement ; so w/ it now in the air flow ; where have you started / played with to create effective angle & down force ??? Thanks / Paul W.

Re: About to run a new batch of Spoiler uprights...

Glen and I did a similar wing mod - replacing the uprights. Half the reason was pure aesthetics - I personally did not like the way the wing looked with respect to its position on the car and the fact that the uprights looked - just too vertical.

We kept the Wing shorter than the canopy by a few millimeters and in front of the trailing edge of the bumper. The leading edge (and therefore the wing itself) is 3.5 inches higher and 7 inches farther aft. The uprights are 1/4 inch 6061 Aluminum. The wing has fixed attachments forward and the aft can be adjusted in approximately 2 degree increments. We have not been to the track yet to determine performance changes.

Re: About to run a new batch of Spoiler uprights...

I am submitting to the SCCA rule changes for the GTS car in GT2, one rule change request is to make the wing position the same as the GT2 ruling for all other non spec GT2's which basicly says that the no part of the wing may be mounted above the top of the roof line " including endplates" and not extend past rear bumper. Does your extensions meet these requirments?
thanks

Matt

Re: About to run a new batch of Spoiler uprights...

I am requesting total over all rear tire width to be 12.75 from the 12.5 in the GCR, wing as mentioned, Open shocks as per GCR for the rest of GT2 with open spring rates, but same size. Optional Jerico transmission- either same ratio'd 5 speed or a 4 speed with open ratio's none greater than the spec 5th gear in the TKO, and a third optional third member ratio of 3.70:1. Let me know your thoughts

all good requests. If you ask for the wing adjustments you might want to request splitters. All of us did this mod in combination. Just one might unsettle the car and create some handling issues.
